Why Buyers Ask About Game Set Boxes
Board games are experiencing a renaissance. What was once a (20 plastic box is now a )150 premium mahjong set, chess set, or domino collection — and the trunk-style box is what makes the customer click “add to cart.”
If you’re a game brand founder, premium board game publisher, or corporate gift buyer sourcing game set boxes, the key questions are: can the supplier replicate the vintage trunk look with real leather straps and metal hardware, and CNC-cut foam that holds 144 tiles securely?

Common Game Set Box Mistakes
- Plastic straps | Real leather looks premium; plastic looks cheap
- No corner protectors | Corners scuff in shipping; add metal corners
- Foam too thin | Tiles need 20mm+ foam to not rattle
- No handle | Customers carry these; add a real grip
- Logo too small | The trunk front is billboard space; make it prominent
- Lid doesn’t close flush | Test the hinge and latch before mass production
- Wrong tile cavity count | Standard mahjong is 144 tiles; double-check your set size
FAQ for Procurement Teams
Q: What is the MOQ for vintage trunk game set boxes?
A: Standard MOQ is 300 sets. For blank trunks with just a foil-stamped logo, we can start at 200 sets.
Q: Can you produce the full mahjong set (tiles + dice + box)?
A: We manufacture the box and foam insert. Tiles, dice, and game accessories are sourced separately — we can recommend partners if needed.
Q: What leather options do you offer?
A: Real leather, PU leather, and leather-textured paper wrap. For premium sets we recommend real leather straps with brass hardware.
Q: Can you make the trunk in different colors?
A: Yes. White, black, navy, burgundy, tan, and custom Pantone colors. The strap color and hardware (gold/silver/black) are also customizable.
Q: What is the lead time?
A: Sample: 10–14 days. Mass production: 25–35 days for 300–500 sets, depending on hardware complexity.
