The Edge Says Everything
Look at a cheap rigid box and a premium one. The difference? The edges.
Cheap box: raw greyboard visible at cut edges.

Wrapped vs. Painted
Painted edge:
- Paint applied to the cut board edge
- Fast, affordable
- Clean look
Wrapped edge:
- Exterior paper wraps over the edge
- More durable, no paint chips
- Higher cost
For most brands, painted edge is enough.
When to Skip Edge Painting
Edge painting isn’t always necessary:
- Budget products where every cent counts
- Kraft/natural boxes where raw edge fits the aesthetic
- Boxes where edges won’t be visible
Common Edge Mistakes
- No edge finish — Box looks cheap
- Wrong edge color — Clashes with box
- Poor paint application — Uneven, streaky
- Paint chips — Cheap paint wears off
- Forgetting the bottom edge — Top looks good, bottom doesn’t
