How the Insert Works
A proper wine bottle insert:
- Cradles the bottle at the bottom
- Holds the neck securely
- Prevents bottle from touching the box walls
- Absorbs shock from drops
- Keeps bottle upright
The neck is the weak point. Most breakage happens at the neck. Your insert must support both bottom and neck.
Outer Carton Requirements
Your gift box needs an outer shipping carton:
- Double wall corrugated for wine shipping
- No space around gift box — Fill with padding
- “Fragile” and “This Side Up” markings
- Weight limit: Under 22.5 kg per carton
Common mistake: Shipping the gift box alone. The gift box is for presentation, not shipping.
How to Pack Wine for Shipping
- Bottle in insert — Snug fit, no movement
- Insert in gift box — Tape or secure
- Gift box in outer carton — Fill gaps with bubble wrap
- Close outer carton — Tape all seams
- Label — Fragile, this side up
- Test — Shake the carton. Nothing should move.
