Backgammon Game Set Boxes: Vintage Trunk Cases for Board Game Packaging

A board game in a printed cardboard box gets thrown away after Christmas. A board game in a vintage trunk case with leather trim, a carry handle, and a fitted interior — that becomes the shelf piece you keep for decades. Here’s what game brands and premium gift buyers should know.

Why Buyers Ask About Game Set Boxes

Board games live or die by the unboxing moment. A standard tuck box says “mass market.” A trunk-style case says “collectible.” For backgammon, chess, mahjong, or any premium table game, the case is half the product — it protects the board, stores the pieces, and doubles as furniture when not in use.

If you’re a board game brand, promotional merchandise buyer, or hospitality supplier sourcing game set cases, the key questions are: can the supplier print the playing surface on the interior lid and base, build leather trim and hardware, and fit dice/cups/pieces compartments?

Common Game Set Box Mistakes

Print misalignment | The board pattern must align perfectly when the case is closed; test on sample

Surface too slippery | The playing surface should have a matte, not glossy, finish

No piece storage | Players need compartments for dice, cups, and pieces

Handle flimsy | A game case gets carried; the handle must be solid

Latches don’t close | Test latch alignment; the case should stay shut when moved

Thin board edges | The playing surface needs a rigid border to lie flat

Pieces rattle | Cut compartments to the exact piece size

FAQ for Procurement Teams

Q: What is the MOQ for game set cases?

A: Standard MOQ is 300 cases. For simpler games (dominoes, checkers), we can start at 200 cases.

Q: Can you print our custom board design?

A: Yes. We print any board design — backgammon points, chess grid, branded promotional board. Send us your vector artwork.

Q: Do you supply the game pieces (dice, cups, checkers)?

A: We can source and fit standard backgammon dice/cups, chess pieces, or dominoes. We recommend sending your piece samples so we can cut the compartments to fit.

Q: What interior materials work for game boards?

A: We print on paper laminated to rigid board, or use fabric/felt surfaces for a premium feel. Felt is recommended for backgammon and chess.

Q: What is the lead time?

A: Sample: 10–15 days. Mass production: 25–35 days for 300–500 cases, depending on complexity.
