Thickness Is Protection
The insert’s job is to hold your product securely. Too thin and it shifts. Too thick and you waste box space and money.

Cavity Depth
The cavity should:
- Fit your product snugly
- Hold it just below the surface
- Allow easy removal
- Not be so deep that product falls out
Rule: Cavity depth = product height minus 1–2mm.

How to Choose
- Weigh your product — Heavier = thicker insert
- Check fragility — Glass/ceramic = more protection
- Measure product height — Cavity must match
- Consider shipping distance — Long shipping = more cushioning
- Test before bulk — Drop test a sample
Common Thickness Mistakes
- Too thin for fragile items — Product breaks in transit
- Too thick for light items — Wastes material and cost
- Cavity too deep — Product falls out or rattles
- Ignoring material density — Thin dense foam can beat thick soft foam
- No drop test — Always test a sample before bulk order
