Printed Sample
The color check:
- Shows printed colors and print quality
- Confirms colors match your design
- Checks print clarity and finish
- Good for color approval
When to use: After design, before printing. Good for confirming colors and print quality.
Blank Sample
The structure check:
- Shows structure, size and fit
- Confirms box folds correctly
- Checks dimensions and product fit
- Good for structure approval
When to use: Before bulk order. The most important step — this confirms the box fits your product.

- Checks consistency
- Approves full run
When to use: At the start of production. Good for confirming bulk quality matches the sample.
What to Check on a Sample
- Print color — Do colors match your design?
- Box size — Does it fit your product?
- Finish quality — Is the matte/gloss finish smooth?
- Material feel — Is the paper the right thickness?
- Cierre — Does the box close properly?
- Edge quality — Are edges clean and crisp?

Common Cosmetic Box Sample Mistakes
- Skipping samples — Bulk order arrives and it’s wrong
- Only printed sample, no blank — Colors look right but box doesn’t fit
- Not checking product fit — Product doesn’t fit the box
- No sample approval — Production starts without sign-off
- Same sample for all sizes — Each size needs its own sample
