Print Finish = Perceived Value
A plain printed carton looks standard. Add foil or embossing and suddenly it looks premium — even though the box structure is the same.
The print finish is the cheapest way to upgrade perceived quality.

Foil Stamping
Foil adds metallic shine to logos or key areas:
- Gold foil — Classic luxury
- Silver foil — Modern cool
- Holographic foil — Eye-catching
Foil on a dark box = instant premium look.
Embossing & Debossing
Embossing raises the design off the paper. Debossing presses it in.
Both create a tactile effect that print alone can’t achieve.
Best for: Logos, premium brands, minimal designs.
Spot UV
Spot UV is a glossy coating on selected areas:
- Logo = glossy, rest = matte
- Creates contrast and interest
- Feels premium to the touch

Best bang for buck: Matte lamination + foil logo.
Common Printing Mistakes
- Too many techniques — Foil + emboss + spot UV = overkill
- Wrong print method — Digital for large runs = expensive
- No lamination — Carton scratches easily
- Foil on wrong area — Foil should highlight, not cover everything
- Not proofing — Always approve a printed sample
